¹After Taemonim’s ascension, Go Min-hwan and other disciples served as caretakers of Her grave.

²In 1961 (DG 91), on July 25 or 26, Taemonim’s grave was unexpectedly desecrated, Her holy remains excavated and stolen.³Anguishing over this incident, Min-hwan discreetly launched a private search for the holy remains, but he could not locate them though he looked everywhere; and this caused him to suffer anxiety and distress for some time.⁴He eventually discussed the matter with the disciples who had personally served Taemonim, and together they decided to report the grave desecration and theft to the authorities.

⁵Shortly after nine o’clock on the night of September 20, Min-hwan sat alone still pondering the matter; and when he fell into a state of semi-sleep, Taemonim appeared before him, Her appearance the same as when She had dwelled within this world,⁶and She said to him, “Remember what happened to Sangjenim’s holy remains while we were in Jeongeup County, and do not distress yourself.” She then disappeared.

⁷After this, Min-hwan resumed searching discreetly for the person who had excavated the remains. Choe Jeong-hyeon, a follower of Seo Baek-il’s organization, seemed the likeliest suspect.⁸Searching for this man, Min-hwan learned that Jeong-hyeon could be found at the house of Seo Myeong-ok in Gunsan. Min-hwan immediately traveled to Gunsan, but Jeong-hyeon’s whereabouts were unknown.

⁹Min-hwan therefore sent word to Jeon Se-yun, a fellow practitioner at the Oseongsan Dojang, to discreetly search for Jeong-hyeon.¹⁰Later, Se-yun one day sent a message: “Choe Jeong-hyeon is now here in Gunsan.” Together, they immediately left for Seo Myeong-ok’s house, and there they found Jeong-hyeon.

¹¹Min-hwan and Se-yun interrogated Jeong-hyeon, chastising him; afterward, with Jeong-hyeon leading the way, they hurried to the secret burial site of the holy remains. ¹²The site was near Yonghwasa Temple, which belonged to Seo Baek-il’s organization, in Jebichanggol Ravine of Haun-dong Village in Gimje County. ¹³At that time, those who conducted a commemorative ceremony at the tomb were Go Min-hwan, Jeon Seon-pil, and Jeon Se-yun.
