¹After Taemonim’s ascension, surveillance and oppression under Japanese imperialism eventually made it impossible for the disciples to gather in one place to practice their belief in Sangjenim and Taemonim.²And so, first Yi Yong-gi founded a dao order, basing it in Samnye Township, then Go Chan-hong and Baek Yun-hwa together founded a dao order in Okgu County. Various other disciples also founded dao orders, basing them in areas with personal connections.³The dao orders based in Oseongsan Mountain and Samnye Township congregated in their respective places of gathering and offered chiseongs; in other dao orders, however, practitioners took turns offering chiseongs in small groups within their households.

⁴When offering a chiseong, the disciples chanted mantras throughout the night, and those who received the inspiration of spirits while chanting mantras bounced up and down into the air from their seated positions.
