¹As Taemonim conducted a work of renewal the night before the Chiseong of April 8, She had an altar erected in the center of the yard and a large pot of cheongsu collected from the well and placed on the altar.²She had flags planted in the yard’s center and in each of the four directions, the color of each flag corresponding to the color of the respective direction. ³After having a bowl of water brought to Her, Taemonim took a mouthful of the water and sprayed it. Afterward, She smoked tobacco and blew several mouthfuls of smoke into the air.⁴Suddenly, thick fog covered the area, making it difficult to see anything, and misty rain followed, soaking Her clothes and those of the followers.

⁵At that moment, Taemonim waved Her tobacco pipe, summoning winds and clouds through the power of creation-transformation. Awestruck, the gazing followers were so mesmerized by the sight that they were oblivious to their drenched clothes.⁶Suddenly, Taemonim gestured toward Go Chan-hong, who was standing with an air of reserve, clad in his serge outer robe, and She called out, “Chan-hong! Chan-hong!”

⁷When Chan-hong subsequently presented himself to Taemonim, She commanded, “Chan-hong, remove and change My clothes.”

⁸Utterly stunned, Chan-hong, due to his dignity as a Confucian literati, dared not remove Her clothes, and he was at a loss as to what he should do. But the command had been stern, so he cautiously proceeded with the task.

⁹“You fool! What worries you so much?” Taemonim demanded. “You are simply helping your Mother out of Her clothes!”¹⁰Taemonim then yanked at Chan-hong’s gat, crushing the hat as it struck Her lower abdomen. ¹¹Straddling Chan-hong, She proclaimed toward the followers, ¹²“All of you! You all came from My vagina.”

¹³Chan-hong had no choice but to continue undressing Taemonim, and he discovered that She was menstruating, Her undergarments soaked with blood. ¹⁴Now even more deeply embarrassed, he stopped in the middle of undressing Her, not knowing what to do or even where to look, and he turned his head away.

¹⁵Taemonim seized Chan-hong by the gat, turned his head until he was looking directly at Her, and slapped him, demanding, ¹⁶“Oh, what a wretched child! What is so shameful about the hole from which you came? What is so displeasing about it?”

¹⁷Chan-hong’s shame was unbearable, and he thought to himself, “Practicing dao is important to a decent and mild-mannered person like myself, but how humiliating it is to be pulled so toward a woman’s private parts.”

¹⁸Taemonim then ordered Chan-hong, “Clean Me with a cloth.” She finished undressing Herself and shouted to the crowd, ¹⁹“You wretches! All of you came from My vagina! Everything under heaven came from My vagina, you fools!”²⁰Numerous male followers, wearing gats that signified their noble status, could not bear to look in light of their social respectability, so they turned their heads away and stood with blank stares.
