¹On March 5, in the presence of several disciples, Taemonim announced to Gahng Hwi-man, “This year, there will be a shortage of water necessary for the transplanting of rice seedlings.²Therefore, I now bestow upon you the Sin-nong Dosu to beseech rain.” With this, Taemonim set a cloth on Hwi-man’s head.³Suddenly, Hwi-man received the inspiration of spirits and began loudly singing “Farmer’s Song” while mimicking the transplanting of rice seedlings.⁴Dark clouds unexpectedly formed in all directions, and rain began falling heavily near sunset and continued into the next day.

⁵Early the following morning, Taemonim declared to those present, “The heavy rain that fell throughout the night is the rain for this year’s transplanting of seedlings. Return to your homes immediately and bring the water under control.”⁶After that, there was an abundance of water for transplanting seedlings everywhere, leading to a very bountiful harvest that year.

⁷Taemonim one day declared, “Never forget the meritorious deeds and virtue of Sin-nong, and revere him faithfully.”
