¹From the founding of the Yonghwa-dong Dojang, Gim Su-yeol, Go Min-hwan, and Yi Yong-gi jointly addressed its internal matters, and Jeon Dae-yun worked in the kitchen and attended on Taemonim.²Not long after the founding, the original followers of Yonghwa-dong Village, led by Yi Sang-ho, descended into selfish desires and Confucian formalities and ceased to accept Taemonim’s teachings and began to act upon their whims.³Consequently, Gim Su-yeol and Jeon Seon-pil viewed Sang-ho as iniquitous and left Yonghwa-dong Village, returning to their homes.

⁴Meanwhile, Taemonim kept Min-hwan at Her side and consulted him in conducting all matters, and thus Sang-ho’s jealousy grew all the more severe until he resolved to harm Min-hwan.⁵Having discerned signs of this intention, Taemonim issued Min-hwan a command forbidding him to leave Her side.

⁶One day, reflecting upon the state of affairs at the dojang, Min-hwan lamented, “How tragic! In their ignorance of Mother’s spiritual authority, every one of these followers lives a life of mere hollow formalities.⁷The sacred mandate of saving life lies before them, yet they act as irresponsibly as though it were all but a game. How can workers of heaven and earth charged with the duty of saving lives possess such a mindset?”⁸Seized with irrepressible indignation, he resolved to gather the followers who had left since the founding of the Yonghwa-dong Dojang and seek another course.⁹At the same time, Min-hwan feared an attempt on his life by Sang-ho’s faction, so he left the dojang deep in the night and returned to his home village in Okgu County.

¹⁰Thereafter, Min-hwan visited every one of the followers who had believed in Sangjenim and Taemonim and initiated a campaign to rebuild the dao order. ¹¹During this time, he designated Mun Yeong-hui’s house in Namnae-ri Village, Okgu County, as a temporary place of contact and quickly began to organize a body of dao.
