¹Due to the long distance between Jojong-ri Village and Wangsim-ri Village, the followers’ visits became rare by 1931, and the dojang’s wherewithal became woefully insufficient.²Meanwhile, people in Yonghwa-dong Village had desired since 1930 to serve Taemonim there and had sent several messengers to Her to express their wish.

³On July 29, 1931, the founder and leader of Donghwagyo, Yi Sang-ho, and one of its senior members, Jo Hak-gu, came to visit Taemonim.⁴Under Go Chan-hong’s escort, they were able to meet Taemonim, and Sang-ho said to Her,⁵“I have heard that the Heavenly Teacher spoke to You, Venerable Lady, of ‘the Three Households,’ and that He said to several disciples, ‘Yonghwa-dong Village is My citadel.’⁶In light of this, on the winter solstice of 1928, my fellow practitioners and I founded Donghwagyo in Yonghwa-dong Village.⁷On March 16 of the following year, we completed the compilation of Daesunjeongyeong and thus established a foundation of true dharma, and then we awaited the proper moment to approach You.⁸Now that the sixtieth anniversary of the Heavenly Teacher’s birth has arrived, we believe the time has come for You, Venerable Lady, to finally establish Your Third Household.⁹We humbly request that You move the dojang to Yonghwa-dong Village.” Sang-ho earnestly entreated Her consent.

¹⁰At this, Go Min-hwan thought, “This development must be a turning point of dao in the Three Households Dosu.” ¹¹After the two men left, Min-hwan said to Taemonim, “The practitioners in Yonghwa-dong Village entreat You so ardently that I believe it would be prudent to temporarily relocate Your residence there to grant their wish, and from there decide upon future matters.” Min-hwan pleaded earnestly many times.

¹²Taemonim finally consented. “First, on Sangjenim’s Incarnation Day, I shall take His portrait to Yonghwa-dong Village and there offer the chiseong commemorating the sixtieth anniversary of His incarnation.¹³Afterward, I shall relocate the dojang to Yonghwa-dong Village when the time is right.”
