¹Decades after Taemonim’s ascension, eight or nine followers gathered at the Oseongsan Dojang on Taemonim’s Incarnation Day to offer the annual commemorative chiseong.²After the chiseong had been offered, one of them who aspired to become the head of a dao order began exaggerating an incident in which Jeon Seon-pil purchased rice beer for himself with a small amount of offering money that he had been administering,³and this follower launched a personal attack full of fallacious accusations against Seon-pil, declaring before the other followers, “Jeon Seon-pil embezzled the chiseong offering money for himself.”⁴Confronted by the eloquence and slander of his accuser, Seon-pil merely sat staring vacantly at him.

⁵That night, Seon-pil lamented in his dream, “Mother, all the meritorious deeds and virtue that I have garnered through myriad travails and hardships that have lasted into my old age have now come to this!”

⁶Taemonim suddenly appeared to Seon-pil in his dream and said, “If you persist in holding fast to a household maintained under the ways of the Early Heaven, you will bring ruin even unto others, so build an entirely new foundation.⁷I will not come here, so you must no longer come here either. Sleep now, and tomorrow morning let us depart together.”
