¹From the onset of the Yonghwa-dong Dojang, a vast difference in views was evident between the followers from the Jojong-ri Dojang and the former followers of Donghwagyo. ²The followers who had previously served Taemonim in Jojong-ri Village clearly understood the principle of the ways of spirits which underlay Her works of renewal.³Thus, when a work of renewal began, they anticipated how Taemonim would proceed with that work of renewal by observing Her movements and prepared for the ensuing stages of the work.⁴However, the original followers from Yonghwa-dong Village did not have the faintest inkling of the meaning of the work of renewal and misperceived the work as no more than simple shamanistic rituals.⁵As time passed, the followers from both sides could not reconcile their interpretations of the teachings and the rules concerning the running of the dojang, and this schism widened.

⁶As more time passed, the original followers from Yonghwa-dong began to create turmoil through disrespectful language and unrighteous conduct in the dojang.⁷Eventually, the followers who came with Her from Jojong-ri Village all left, and the dojang plunged into such decline that it was difficult to find even the shadow of people in the dojang.

⁸During the time of Taemonim’s residence in Yonghwa-dong Village, the followers from Imok clearly understood Taemonim’s spiritual authority, and they tended to all major and minor matters in offering chiseongs. They also devotedly served Taemonim during Her works of renewal, attending to the various tasks.⁹And so, Taemonim often said, “The followers from Imok are My children. I will conduct all of My work with the children of Imok, no matter how destitute My household becomes.”
