¹When She arrived in Wonpyeong Village, Subunim commanded Yun-chil to prepare a modest offering of rice wine, fruit, and dried fish.²She left the road and walked on the banks of rice paddies and fields, Gyeong-seok and Yun-chil following behind, until She arrived at the temporary tomb located at the edge of the bamboo grove behind Hyeong-ryeol’s house in Guritgol Village.³She ordered Yun-chil to remove the straw thatch that covered the coffin.

⁴Gyeong-seok implored, “If the owner of the temporary tomb sees us taking it apart, he will rush upon us in a rage. What will we do then? Let us cease and leave immediately.”

⁵But Subunim paid him no heed and began to remove the thatch Herself.

⁶Seeing no other choice, Gyeong-seok ordered Yun-chil to remove the thatch and open the coffin. Subunim beheld that the body within the coffin was indeed that of Sangjenim. His features and appearance remained unchanged from life.

⁷Subunim opened the pouch entrusted to Her by Sangjenim, took out seven coins, and placed them in the coffin.⁸Sangjenim had once said to Her, “After I die, You must place this pearl in My mouth,” so She now took this pearl from the pouch and set it inside His mouth,⁹as well as three rice grains and three white baduk stones. The stones slipped out of His mouth, however, so She set them back in the pouch.¹⁰She then laid upon His chest a clean inner garment, and She spread upon this garment a funeral banner inscribed “Okhwang-Sangje (玉皇上帝).” She then closed the coffin lid. ¹¹Next, Subunim offered the prepared rice wine, fruit, and dried fish and then prostrated Herself twice, all while weeping sorrowfully. Finally, She had the tomb once again covered with thatch.

¹²After observing all of this from his home, Gim Hyeong-ryeol came before Subunim with ten other disciples, including Gim Ja-hyeon and Gim Gap-chil, and they escorted Her into the house. ¹³Subunim rested at Hyeong-ryeol’s home for two days, then returned to Daeheung-ri Village with Gyeong-seok and Yun-chil.
