¹On their way to Daeheung-ri Village from Nongbau Village, Sangjenim and Gyeong-seok paused in Haengdan Village. ²There, Sangjenim announced to Gyeong-seok, “It is said that Confucius imparted dao at Haengdan, so I will convey to you a writing at this place.” With this, Sangjenim recited to Gyeong-seok the first chapter of Sanlue.

³Sangjenim continued, “The Work of Renewing Heaven and Earth requires the Subu in order for the works of renewal to progress in sequence. The Subu has not been consecrated, however, so numerous works of renewal have been delayed during the course of the Work of Renewing Heaven and Earth.⁴There is a vast accumulation of critical works of renewal that fall within the Subu’s purview.⁵My work can be accomplished only with the Subu, so seek out the one who will be the Subu if you would truly serve my work.”

⁶After they returned to Gyeong-seok’s home in Daeheung-ri Village, Gyeong-seok suggested his elder maternal first cousin, Lady Go, as the Subu.⁷On November 3, Sangjenim received Lady Go and conducted a ceremony that established the Dosu of the Subu.
