¹The following day, Sangjenim’s holy remains were laid to rest in a temporary tomb at the edge of the bamboo grove beyond the ramie field behind Hyeong-ryeol’s house.²Overwhelmed with sorrow and struck with a sense of emptiness, the disciples felt sapped of strength as they proceeded to return to Hyeong-ryeol’s house.³Suddenly, a loud wailing arose behind them, and they returned to the temporary tomb to discover Gyeong-seok, alone, wailing as he embraced the temporary tomb.⁴Several disciples approached Gyeong-seok and eventually persuaded him to cease this wailing, and they all returned to Hyeong-ryeol’s house.

⁵Several days passed, yet the Sacred Father could not bring himself to leave Guritgol Village,⁶so Gyeong-seok comforted him and escorted him to the Sacred Parents’ house in Gobu County, where Gyeong-seok also comforted the Sacred Mother, who was deeply stricken with sorrow.

⁷Hyeong-ryeol paid for the funeral using the money Sangjenim had told him to deposit in the chest and sent all the remaining money to the Sacred Parents’ house.

⁸After this period, constant watch was kept over Sangjenim’s temporary tomb—usually by Gim Hyeong-ryeol, Baek Bok-nam, Gim Ja-hyeon, Gim Gap-chil, or Bak Gong-u—until the burial on Jangtaennal Hillock.
