¹A hundred or so followers gathered the day before Sangjenim’s Incarnation Chiseong.²Early in the evening, Taemonim began hurrying the preparations for the offering, and She appeared to be in a rush throughout the rest of the evening.³When the chiseong ended, She urged the followers, “Hurry, return home,” and so the followers frantically dispersed and departed for their homes.

⁴Early the next morning, on September 19, the Gimje County police arrived and conducted a thorough search of the entire premises, then departed.⁵In those times, the Japanese Government-General in Joseon had designated organizations founded on Jeung-san Sangjenim’s teachings as conspiratorial and had begun a widespread repression of them.⁶Consequently, any large assembly of followers provoked a police raid, and Taemonim, foreseeing such a raid, had ordered the followers to disperse quickly.

⁷On October 15, over three hundred followers gathered for another chiseong offered at night, and again this attracted the attention of the authorities.⁸However, the followers were able to return to their homes safely when Taemonim summoned a heavy fog to cover the area, concealing them.
